Obituary

Carmela Annicchiarico, 64, of Jersey City, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 7, 2022, while surrounded by her loving family.

Carmela inspired countless students and touched many lives during her 22 plus years in elementary education. She worked tirelessly as a kindergarten teacher at PS #29, where her passion for her students was apparent daily, in the way she delighted in motivating young minds. Outside of the classroom, Carmela’s hobbies included handcrafting, crocheting, sewing, and cooking for her family. She took great pride in her seven grandchildren and took every opportunity to spend time with them, whether at a concert in the park or during one of her fun-arts-and-crafts-filled sleepovers and movie nights. Carmela was generous and kind. A teacher until the end, she will be remembered for her patience, compassion, and willingness to do for others.

Loving daughter of the late Emanuel and Guilia Annicchiarico; loving mother of Jacqueline Irlanda and her husband Alex, Michele Ferry and her husband Vincent, and Julia Lleo and her husband Elio; devoted grandmother of Aleesha, Giovanna, Aibhlinn, Vincent, Emilio and Annaliese; cherished great grandmother of Myles; dear sister of the late Joseph Annicchiarico, Emanuel Annicchiarico, Bernard Annicchiarico and Julia Montone and her husband Gerry. Also surviving is her loving nephew Gerardo and many loving friends.
